When I installed the printer on WinXP it just worked ok - don't even know if I have IZ.SSD: Without the moving parts of a standard hard drive, solid-state drives are more efficient, reliable, and much faster. This problem is strictly a printer problem and has nothing to do with either IE7 afaik.
I have not used IE7 as yet, and my XP is down for the count - I'm using Ubuntu Live CD 6.0.6 LTS (Linux variant). Thanks for the extra HP web page link for other printers - I'm sure that will be useful to others that have a similar problem. Unconnected the USB from the back of the printer, aligned the cartridge - this time placing the alignment page toward the front corner (instead of the back like last time when it didn't work), powered down for 20 seconds, powered up and the alignment page this time did not print!!! Powered down, reconnected the USB cable to the back of the printer (no need to unconnect the USB from the computer), and powered up - again NOT printing out the alignment page! After powering everything down, I turned on my power-strip which then proceeded to print out the alignment page. The procedure as posted in #4 worked for me.

In essence, even after performing the alignment procedure (successfully) on every power-up, it still insists on printing out the alignment page. So, after initially replacing only the black cartridge, I followed the procedure by re-placing both in order. The instructions with the "Start Here" guide indicated first inserting the black, then the color cartridges in that order.
The computer system power-up requires me to manually push the power-on button in the front of my desktop, and what I describe below happens before I pwoer-up my computer system separately.Īfter changing the black cartridge recently, the printer insists on printing out an alignment page after every power-on. When I power-on my dial-up system, the printer is the first device to power up.
